There were some recent reports suggesting that Akshay Kumar charged a mammoth Rs 120 crores for his OTT release Cuttputlli from producers Pooja Films. However, actor-turned-producer Jackky Bhagnani, who runs the banner after taking over the baton from his father Vashu Bhagnani, has rubbished off such claims.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Jackky said that the said report contained “misinformed calculations.”
As far as Akshay is concerned, Jackky claimed that he hasn’t been fussy over the issue of fees. “I can’t specifically comment on anyone else but I am doing my fourth film as a producer with Akshay sir (Bell Bottom, Cuttputlli, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Capsule Gill [reportedly titled]) and I find him most fair when it comes to charging his fees,” he said.
Jackky also said that it’s not fair to compare one actor’s fee with another as some actors ask for a full fee while others have stakes in a film’s profit. “Their overall fee is a function of that stake and how much the film earns on the box office,” he said. “This is the way it works, whether for SRK or Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan or most leading stars. To compare one actor’s base fee with another actor’s overall profit earning is like comparing apples with oranges.”
Bhagnani’s next production with Akshay in the form of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is keenly looked forward as it also stars Tiger Shroff. The film will feature Akshay and Tiger, two action stars from two diverse generations, in an out-and-out action avatar.
