Of late, media has been abuzz with the ongoing Hindi language debate where many actors are putting across their assumptions and opinions regarding the subject. The debate was started by Ajay Devgn when the Runway 34 actor stated that Hindi is our national language. Followed by his comments, Makkhi actor Kichcha Sudeepa had some interesting anecdotes where he also clarified that Hindi is not our national language. Post this, a twitter debate broke out between the actors but many other stars from the Indian entertainment industry too shared their thoughts and views on this. Jaaved Jaaferi was the recent one to comment about it.
In an interview with India Today, Jaaved Jaaferi reportedly confessed that he had assumed Hindi was indeed our national language. However, owing to the debate, he read up on the matter and he found that the Indian Constitution does not give any language the status of a national language. The actor read up on it further and also revealed that the Constitution only lists out 22 ‘official’ languages which comprises of languages like Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Sindhi among others.
Jaaved Jaaferi went on to add that the beauty of this country lies in its diverse cultures and languages. Despite the fact, that India has a national bird, national flower, national animal, the country also does not have a national religion. According to the Constitution, India is a secular country that celebrates all religions and Jaaved added that just like that, the country also celebrates all its languages.
On the work front, Jaaved Jaaferi is often seen working for OTT platform content. His next includes a web series titled Escaype Live which also features actor Siddharth, Waluscha De Sousa amongst others and will start streaming on Disney+Hotstar from May 20, 2022.
